Cube Guide Empty
PostSubject: Cube Guide   Cube Guide Icon_minitimeTue Aug 24, 2010 11:43 pm

you can only receive the reward in room 50 once per day. The timing of the day is when you finish the cube, not when you start it.

Requirements

* Level 40+ to enter
* 1 Duty Badge, which you can get once per day from the Adventure Assistants/Khatru Pup in each of the 6 major cities
* 1 dice ticket per room. If you get lucky and don’t fail any rooms at all, 20 dice tickets may be enough, though if you are very unlucky you may need 50-100. Remember though you can exit at any time, so if you just want to give the cube a whirl to see what its about, 30 dice tickets should be more than enough to cover your experience, but you wont be guaranteed a finish. Some rooms have very difficult challenges, and can be bypassed by paying additional Dice Tickets (these rooms will be explained later)
* Several rooms require 100-200k coins to pass, although you are given the boxes which can win large amounts of coins in return. Taking in 400k+ is advisable, though you can borrow money from people outside the cube while inside using the squad / drop coin and pick up again method.
* Patience. Some days it's going to be really easy, and some days it will have you pulling your hair out.

Rewards for completion

All levels:
* XP for completion! See the table below:
lvl 40-49 – 200k 40k spirit
lvl 50-59 – 250k 50k spirit
lvl 60-69 – 300k 60k spirit
lvl 70-79 – 350k 70k spirit
lvl 80-89 – 400k 80k spirit
lvl 90+ – 450k 90k spirit
* Cube Crate – Contains either a Mirage, or a Badge of dexterity.
* Chest of Coins – 1million coin box, but it requires a perfect iron hammer to open

* Level 80+ - You get the chance to enter rooms 51-60. Further information is beyond the purpose of this guide.
* Level 90+ - A page of fate (make 30 in to a level 99 demon/sage skills) and various OHT mats
(note: at level 80+ you can also elect to miss out on the xp for the chance to get extra items from room 51-60. Again though this is outside the purpose of this guide)

Additional rewards
* Mysterious Chips. Up to 20 per run (5 per room, 4 chip rooms), can be traded for Legendary Molds, Gold mats and warsoul fragments at the Mysterious Merchant in Thousand Streams City. You can also trade 1 chip for 2 Dice tickets.

__________
Challenge Rooms

[1] Fate's Beginning
Trade your Duty Badge for a Puzzle Cube at the Room 1 Teleport Master
Use the Forge beside him to repair, buy potions, and exchange Mirage Celestones for Dice Tickets. These days however you may be able to get dice tickets more cheaply by trading tokens for chips in 1k streams and turning those in to dice.
Choose ‘Cube of fate’ to trade your Duty Badge for a Puzzle Cube (a puzzle cube is needed to start the challenge)
Choose 'Start the Challenge' to exchange your Puzzle Cube and 1 Dice Ticket, for a random die (1-6)
Right click on the die, and you'll move forward that many rooms i.e. if you get a 5 die and you're in room 1, you'll end up in room 6

[2] Chest of Mystery
Open 5 chests for quest items, get a die.

[3] Slaughterhouse
Kill 5 monsters, get a die.

[4] Mice Bashing
Kill10 monsters, 1 hit each, get a die.
This is also the room famous for venomancers to level their pets in. Every kill in here gets your pet the maximum 15xp per kill, and as they are 1 hit kills, its fast fast fast!

[5] Count the Apples
Count the red, white, or blue wisps. Choose correctly, get a die.
Tip – Stand near the corner of the room, but not right in it. Set all your distances to maximum. This is the easiest spot to count them from. If you are still having problems then wait till every orb of the colour you need to choose is on the screen and print screen it. Always remember to check that there are no orbs of your colour floating above your head too.

white 10 , 9 , 11 -> answer is 11

white 10 , 8 , 9 -> 10

white 10 , 8 , 11 -> 10

blue 9 , 14 , 12 -> answer is 12

blue 11 , 10 , 12 -> 12

blue 13 , 14 , 15 -> 14

red 14 , 13 , 12 -> answer is 12

red 13 , 14 , 15 -> 14

red 12 , 11 , 10 -> 11 or 12, is not constant on this one.

[6] Open Sesame
Kill the boss mob in this room, who does a very weak AOE dmg (~100 every few seconds)
When he dies a Teleport Master will spawn, talk to him to get a die. Don’t hang around, he respawns in about 20 seconds and you will have to kill him again.
Tip - You may want to hit town portal or use a teleport incense to go back to room 1, when its busy you are very likely to have others come in to help kill though. This guy does take a while so for the cost of a couple dice tickets, you may prefer to just restart.

[7] Have a Listen
Talk to the NPC to start the challenge
The goal is to find out which monsters have sound effects, the ones with the fire noise will 1 hit kill you, so slowly approach them until you find the monsters with no sound, and run through them to the other side
Tip – Currently it is always the very left hand monsters that have no noise, this has been the case for a long time, though who knows if they will change that some day.

[8] Try Your Luck
Costs 100k, open 10 chests and receive a Golden Box. When you open the Golden Box you receive either a Sadness Card (sells for 1 coin), or a Ecstasy Card (sells for 1,000,000 coins)

[9] 100 Second Stand
Stay alive for 100 seconds
The mob in the center is immune to damage and has an AOE that is not affected by your resistances, while the moving mobs do physical damage.
Tip – Either run around the room so that although the moving mobs are chasing you they never hit you, or if you like you can run to the corner and kill the moving mobs, then you just need to worry about the aoe damage.

[10] Bombs Away!
A time bomb is attached to you and will detonate in 10 minutes
Once you reach the NPC in room 17 (or higher) ask him to diffuse the bomb
If you fail before the bomb goes off you will need to wait in room 1 until it does, DO NOT start the cube again until the bomb has gone off or you will have an unfriendly surprise soon enough. If the bomb goes off, get the NPC in room 1 to remove it and you’re good to go again.
Edit: Supposedly you can remove a bomb in room 1 before it has gone off. I haven’t had this happen in such a long time that I can’t confirm.

[11] Bored ...
Jail room, simply wait 3 minutes and you'll get a die
This room is PK enabled (whether you're blue or white), so afk at your own risk.
Tip - Players normally run to the corners to show that they are not going to be in range to attack anyone and aren’t interested in pking in this room. You do of course have players who will try and grief anyone they can in these rooms so do be warey if someone runs at you.

[12] Choices of Fate
Receive a random token, either 1 room back, or 1-6 rooms forward
Right click to use it like a die

[13] Squad of Six
Either talk to the NPC while having 5 squad mates in the room, or pay 3 Dice Tickets to bypass the challenge.
Tip – Just pay the 3 dice, no-one will wait with you in this room.

[14] I Don't Wanna Leave
The objective of this room is to get a die once someone in the room dies, so, you can either wait for someone to enter and then PK them or suicide and start over at room 1.
If you manage to kill someone a teleport master appears on the oppose corner from where you started.
You can pay the Do all merchant where you start to skip the quest, the payment is 4 Do All cards. Probably better to start over as room 14 is so quick to get to.

Layout of the room:
A ball in the centre which when aggro’d will send aoe damage out over the entire room.
Two monsters in the corners which when aggro’d will debuff you to 20% of your normal hp.
Fate assistant which casts an aoe heal over the whole room, you’ll need to kill this chappy for anyone to really die here.

To kill yourself if you have a charm, run into the corner with the plant mob, which will debuff your HP by 80%, then agro the mob in the middle. You may want to remove all your gear to do this too so that it can kill you easily with minimal waste on your hp charm.

[15] Mystical Messenger
First of four rooms where you can get Mysterious Chips (up to 5 per room)
You have 60 seconds to kill as many mobs as you can
You can only do the Kill for Thrills quest once per day, in each of the four rooms, for a maximum of 20 Mysterious Chips per run. If you go in to the same room a second time on the same day you must choose “direct pass” essentially skipping the room.

Note: I have no information on what happens if you fail to turn in the quest before the 60 seconds is up. Some say you go back to room one, some say just get no chips and carry on. Any further info would be appreciated.

[16] Fight the Demon
Must kill a boss or pay 3 dice to pass. He is a standard ranged magical boss. Soloable for a lot of players, but it is very difficult. It took me around 15 minutes on a level 80 reasonably well equipped cleric. If you aren’t a veno and noone else is in the room it’s probably worth just paying the 3 dice tickets no matter what level you are. Especially as charm ticks/repairs/mp cost will generally total more than the value of 3 dice.

[17] Ecstasy or Sadness
Another chest room, pay 100k, open 10 chests, receive a golden box.

[18] Not Enough Yet
When you enter, you're given 9 Robber cards, but you need 10 to complete the quest and move on
You can trade a Do all card for a robber card in this room to complete the set of 10.
Alternatively you can buy them in room 1 for 20-50k. It is better to Do All card it on average as you lose the robber cards when leaving the cube and hence may just waste your money if you buy one and don’t hit the room.

[19] Happy Hold-up
Talk to the NPC, get 5 extra Dice Tickets, and a die

[20] Life Divergence
Receive a random token, either 1-3 rooms back, or 1-6 rooms forward
Right click to use it like a die

[21] Beast Hunter
Kill 2 mobs in 2 minutes, can be very difficult depending on your level
For example, level 70-79 have to kill level 75 mobs, easier at level 79 than at level 70
Tip ~ Make sure you are well prepared before you take the quest (full chi etc). To make it even easier, after speaking to the teleport master target a mob that you need to kill before taking the quest, that way you save a couple of seconds finding a mob. If you think you may have problems with these, it might be worthwhile having some attack charms on you. At level 60 it was a close call for me to complete this room, next time I threw on some magic attack charms and finished with 40 seconds remaining.

[22] Mystical Messenger (see room 15)
Second of four rooms you can get Mysterious Chips in, same challenge, 60 seconds to kill 1-5 mobs to receive 1-5 chips.

[23] Real or Fake
Must kill 1 mob, supposedly some are weak (never met one), most are hard. Straight physical attack mob, shouldn’t be too hard, treat them as a standard soloable miniboss and you should be okay.

[24] Consequence
Open 5, 20 or 100 chests, get a die
After completion you must choose the number of chests the next player is required to open, to either 5, 20, or 100 chests. Leave it at 5, there really is no reason to choose higher. Unless you enjoy the feeling of Karma whipping your ass ^^

[25] Dragon Gate
Speak to the Cube Remains to pick up the quest, then run diagonally across the room through the exploding hands that 1 hit kill you, simply wait for them to explode them move through the circle.
Reach the opposite corner and talk to the NPC for your die

[26] Death Judge
Must loot 5 chests, guarded by a mob that will 1 hit kill you.
The mob moves very, very slowly. You attack him so that he chases you, then run him to the corner of the room. Once there you can run back and loot the chests while he is slowly grumbling back to you. Rinse and repeat until all 5 chests are gathered.

[27] Try to Listen EX
Similar to the first room but you will need to listen as the monsters that are silent switch around. If you can’t find a straight path through the safest option is to go afk for a while and come back 20 minutes later and try again, the monsters that are silent switch around and there will probably be a straight through path. If there is no straight through path you can go to the far right of the room and run diagonally left, though this can be tricky and may result in death.

(I don’t know exact reset times of the mobs although experience tells me it may be every 20mins, if anyone can help out here please do)

[28] Count the Apples EX (See room 5)
Same as room 5, but with more orbs that move faster. Count either the red, white, or blue wisps

white 10 , 9 , 11 -> answer is 11

white 10 , 8 , 9 -> 10

white 10 , 8 , 11 -> 10

blue 9 , 14 , 12 -> answer is 12

blue 11 , 10 , 12 -> 12

blue 13 , 14 , 15 -> 14

red 14 , 13 , 12 -> answer is 12

red 13 , 14 , 15 -> 14

red 12 , 11 , 10 -> 11 or 12, is not constant on this one.

[29] Slaughterhouse EX
Kill 5 mobs, no time limit

[30] 100 Second Stand EX (See room 9)
Stay alive for 100 seconds, the AOE does more damage in this room than room 9.

[31] Mystical Messenger (See room 15)
Third of the four Mysterious Chip rooms

[32] So Bored
Jail room, simply wait 5 minutes and you'll receive a die, this room is also pk enabled.
(see room 11 for notes)

[33] Monster Trapper
Kill 2 mobs in 2 minutes
(see room 21 for notes)

[34] Steadfast
Same as room 14, either kill another player, kill yourself and start over, or pay 4 do all cards to pass. If you are going to be paying Do All cards, you might want to be ready to hit pots and life saving skills before hitting your dice as there may be players waiting to pk you here.

[35] Life Diverged, Again
Receive a random token, either 3 rooms back, or 1-6 rooms forward
Right click to use it like a die

[36] Crazy Chest
Loot 10 chests, get a die

[37] Great Luck
Pay 200,000 coins, get a box with random goodies inside
Can include 3 Mirage Celestones, 10 Dice Tickets, 2 Do-All, an Ecstasy card (1million coin) or an Excitement card (5million coin)

[38] Dragon Gate EX
Same as room 25, except little insects run around that can 1 hit kill you, need to avoid both them and the exploding hands, for an easy time watch this video link.
youtube.com/watch?v=wgmAr8pL2NE

[39] Consequence II (see room 24)
Open 5, 20, or 100 chests, get a die. Then choose how many the next person must open.

[40] Sadness or Ecstasy
Pay 100,000 coins, open 10 chests, get a platinum box which when opened will give you either 1 coin, or 5,000,000 coins.
Note: It is rumoured that you can decline the quest in this room and still get it completed but without paying the 100k. This is not true, it simply acts as if you have accepted the quest, removing your 100k and giving you the quest.

[41] Squad of Three
Create a squad of 3 players in the same room, or pay 10 Dice Tickets to bypass the
Cr challenge.
Tip – During busy periods (especially for a couple of hours after the game day switches over) it can be a good idea to wait in here if you are short of cash, as many people are cubing. With dice tickets a lot cheaper than they used to be though, many players won’t want to wait with you.

[42] Mystical Messenger (see room 15)
The final Mysterious Chip room. The quest is again the same as the previous rooms.

[43] Take Down the Demon (See room 16)
Similar to room 16, though you must pay 10 dice tickets to pass which often convinces people to kill the boss rather than pay the tickets (however remember to take in to account your charm ticks and pots, it may be cheaper to just pay the 10 tickets). I don’t believe the boss is any more difficult in this room but he has a lot more hp.

[44] Bomber Mania
A time bomb is attached to you, must reach room 50 in 10 minutes or less
Talk to the NPC in room 50 to diffuse the bomb

[45] Open, open sesame!
Same as room 6, kill a boss mob (weak, 100 dmg AOE) that has tons of hit points, takes 5-40 minutes depending on class and level, pray you don't hit the previous room and roll a 1!
This room is also pk enabled, so if you are in a room with others, watch your aoe attacks as they will hit any normal players in range.

As a comparison, a level 90 cleric with demon plume shot and cyclone can kill this guy in around 8-9 minutes if equipping the new bless box of attacks with a +5 weapon, some good channelling gear, and relying for pots and charm ticks for heals.

[46] Still not Enough
Similar to room 18, but with Bully Cards instead.
You can trade 2 Do All cards for a Bully card to complete your set of 10.
You can buy these for 60-120k in room 1 depending on the current economy. If you don’t have an extra on you when you enter, there are occasionally people selling them in the room (150k last time I went through) so you can pass, or you can teleport back to room 1 and start over.
Again, economically you do better to just take Do All cards in with you.

[47] The Final Stand!
Stay alive for 100 seconds, same as the previous two 100 second rooms but significantly more difficult.
Make sure you have a HP charm, both restoration and HP pots, apothecary pots. Bring literally anything you can get. The event muliflavor jiaozi and crab meat jiaozi are amazing in here. Earliest I know of it being done was by a level 65 cleric, but I don’t believe its possible for most classes (cleric and barb are the exception) until level 80+ at least.

[48] Chest Unlocker Hardcore
Open 20 chests, get a die

[49] Prize Raid
Have 2 minutes to kill as many mobs as you can, each mob is worth 5000 XP and 1000 Spirit. Make sure you leave enough time to talk to the teleport master as if you don’t complete the quest in the two minutes you are ported back to room one.
Tip – If someone is in the room killing mobs already, wait for them to finish and leave then start on your own. It will just hurt both your xp if you start while they are going at it.

[50] Fate's End
The final room! No challenge, just talk to the guy in the middle and take your reward.
Note: Past level 80 you can also choose to receive the “mysterious cog” instead of the normal cube reward. Do not choose this if you don’t know what it is, you will be sorely disappointed. Normal cube reward all the way. If you landed in room 44 too, remember to diffuse the bomb.

__________
Mysterious Chips
If you visit the Mysterious Merchant in Thousand Streams City, left of the city elder, you can trade chips + coins for legendary molds, various gold TT, FC and LG mats, and even dice tickets.

Tips and Tricks
Golden/Platinum Box, Sundries packs:
If you get one of the golden/platinum boxes or sundries packs, instead of opening them sell them in a cat shop. You can get 200k for Golden boxes, 350-400k on platinum boxes and around 300k on Sundries packs. On average you get less than these amounts from the boxes by opening them, so let others have the fun of the gamble while you take the money!

I’m sure there are more, but for now I just want to get the guide out there. I’ll gloss over it in the future and attempt to improve it in places. For now though, enjoy!

If there are any slight errors in here, feel free to message me and I’ll update accordingly.
